FAQ


Q: This is my first time attending Annual Conference. Where do I start?

A: First, make sure you register using the First Time Attendee registration type. We do double check these registrations, so this registration type is reserved for anyone who has never attended an AGC conference (attending other AGC events is ok). After you register, check the schedule to see which events or sessions you would like to attend. Make sure you attend the First Time Attendee Conference Orientation on Wednesday at 1:15PM, because this will be the best place for you to ask your questions regarding what to attend and which meetings most pertain to you. Then, network-network-network! Connect with conference attendees in the AGC Events App, and plan to attend the receptions every evening. Feel free to reach out to the AGC Events dept via email or call 916-371-2422 with any other questions as a First Time Attendee.


Q: Do I have to register for the entire conference if I’m just attending Committee, Division and State Board Meetings?

A: Yes, this year everyone must be registered to attend the conference in order to access the Education Seminars, General Sessions, and AGC Business Meetings. We will be checking name badges at the door of every session, so please register in advance.

Q: Do I have to register my spouse/guest for the full conference?

A: You are not required to register your spouse/guest for conference, however, if they wish to access any of the conference activities including any sessions or the expo, they must be registered as a Second/Additional Registrant. If your spouse does not plan to attend any events at the conference except the receptions on Wednesday and Thursday, we suggest you register your spouse under the Guest Reception Registration. This allows access to those receptions only.

Q: How do I check the conference schedule?

A: You can check the Schedule page of this conference website to view the most up-to-date schedule for the conference. You can learn more about some of the events on the Event Info page. Once you are at the conference, you and use the AGC Events App to create a personalized schedule for the event and be most informed on any schedule changes. You can download the AGC Events App in your provider's app store by searching for "AGC of California".

Q: Will there be an Expo Hall at this conference?

A: Yes! The Conference Expo is back at Annual Conference and it will host the Welcome Reception, two breakfasts, two lunches, and 1 networking reception.

 

Q: What is the dress code or attire?

A: The recommended attire for the conference is business or business casual. This includes the Education Seminars, General Sessions, AGC Business Meetings, Welcome Reception (Wed.), and Presidents Reception (Thurs).  For the Guest Event we are recommending casual attire and for the "Wranglers Ball" Friday night event we are requesting business casual attire or your best western ensemble. If you are also attending the Awards Banquet on Saturday, the requested attire is black tie.

 

Q: Where can I find the information to make my hotel reservation? (phone number, online reservation link, group code)

A: A special discounted room rate of $169 has been secured for AGC of California attendees (standard guest rooms only). Visit the Venue/Hotel Info page to learn more about the conference venue and also how to make your hotel reservation. The group block is available until October 1, 2018 or until it sells out, whichever comes first. Any reservations made after this date are subject to hotel availability and rates.

 

Q: When do I need to make hotel reservations by in order to get the conference rate of $169?

A: October 1, 2018, but note that the AGC block sold out last year before the early bird registration deadline, so make your hotel reservations as early as possible. Visit the Venue/Hotel Info page to learn more.

 

Q: Who do I contact about my dietary restriction?

A: All of the receptions (Wed, Thurs, Fri) will have vegetarian and gluten free appetizers available and be labeled accordingly. If you have a dietary restriction and are registered to attend the Guest Event, Construction Safety Excellence Awards or the Awards Banquet, please email your request to conference@agc-ca.org. Requests sent after October 22, 2018 are not guaranteed, but we will do our best to accommodate.
